Fraser Café hosts Scotch whisky tasting

“There’s none more Scots;
Than the Scots abroad.
There’s a place in our hearts;
For the old sod.”
— From “The Old Sod,” Spirit of the West

For one day at least, plaid is rad and tartan is trendy. April 6 is Tartan Day and Fraser Café is celebrating with a Scotch Whisky Tasting (that’d be four spectacular Scottish-themed courses paired with four fine whiskies). The $90 dinner takes place at the intimate Table 40 restaurant (7 Springfield Rd.) and sees chef Ross Fraser designing a menu to go with the Craigellachie, Aberfeldy, and Aultmore whisky being poured. Call 613-749-1444 to register.

City Bites Hot Tip: Pay close attention while you sip. The connoisseurs at Ouidram, a company set up to inspire and educate people about fine Scottish whisky and its heritage will be guiding you through the tasting of each, describing the whisky and pointing out the flavours you should be trying to identify.
