City Bites Insider: Stella Luna wins big at Gelato World Tour

Stella Luna has done it again! Old Ottawa South’s favourite gelato joint and café won big in Chicago this past weekend, taking home third prize on the Americas East portion of the prestigious Gelato World Tour.

Their winning tongue-twister of a flavour? “Rich chocolate, KOVAL single-barrel organic bourbon, ganache swirl & maple-candied pecans.” Phew! Co-owner Tammy Giuliani, who boasted on Facebook that she scooped 687 pounds of her signature gelato over the 3-day event, now heads to Italy in January for the next level of competition.

City Bites Hot Tip: Taste-test at your leisure! Choose your flavours and have staff scoop them into ½-litre ($11.90) or 1-litre ($21.95) containers to go. They’ll pack up to three flavours in a container. Our recommendation? Try their award-winning gelato (if you can pronounce the name) or, for the gelato purist, nothing beats pistachio, and Giuliani’s creamy interpretation is our favourite in the city.
