Fashion your mop-top and dig out your John Lennon glasses. On Sunday, May 1, the ’60s return for one afternoon only at The Wellington Gastropub, with John, Paul, George, and Ringo blasting from their groovy Tetra speakers. “A Day In the Life Beatles Tribute” runs noon to 5pm and raises money for the Parkdale Food Centre. Your $10.95 gets you entrance to the coolest afternoon party in town. To sweeten the deal, owner Shane Waldron is also offering up $5 Beau’s Lug-Treads and a menu of four or five pub-style plates created specially for the event. Tickets through Eventbrite.
City Bites Hot Tip: Requests will be taken! Impress (or maybe distress) your companions by asking for the least-streamed Beatles song ever on Spotify. We happen to think “Her Majesty” is a catchy little tune. And if everyone disses it, point out that, as any true music aficionado should know, “Her Majesty” deserves respect as one of the first examples of a hidden track in rock music.
