A yummy announcement was made last week in dramatic style.
On the stage of the Great Canadian Theatre Company, just after the curtain was lifted on the 2016-17 season, and the chocolate truffles were being passed around after a lovely lunch thanks to Thyme & Again Creative Catering, guests were told that each of the six plays will include a pop-up dinner.
The nitty gritties are still being sorted out, but this we do know — the Great Canadian Theatre Company pop-up dinner project is the brainchild of Sheila Whyte of Thyme & Again and Michael Moffatt, executive chef of Beckta, Play and Gezellig; the pop-up will take place some time during the run of each production; the venue will be the foyer of the GCTC; and the six chefs involved are Katie Brown Ardington of Beckta, Marc Lepine of Atelier, Pat Garland of Absinthe, Arup Jana of Allium, Marc Doiron of town, and Jon Svazas of Fauna (and a soon-to-open, gods-be-willing second restaurant in Hintonburg).
No doubt there will be encores for this great collaborative effort, and props to Sheila Whyte, Michael Moffatt, Thyme & Again and the GCTC for dreaming it up.
Break a leg, all of you.
