They launched the series in 2016 — Big Rig’s Taproom Sessions gave the brewery a chance to run small tours showing how they make their beers and provided an opportunity for music fans to see their favourite artists in an intimate setting.
City Bites caught up with Big Rig just in time to hear about their plans for the May Taproom Sessions event (Sunday, May 21. $15.). The guest list is capped at 75 (with behind-the-scenes tours at 4:30 p.m., 5 p.m., and 5:30 p.m., followed by Bry Webb at around 7 p.m.). Your ticket gets you the tour, one glass of beer and, of course, a moody-cool concert with the aforementioned Bry. With all the money you’ve saved, you can plan to splurge on a few slices of pizza and an extra beer or two.
City Bites Hot Tip #1: Your beer ticket gets you a glass of whatever Big Rig has on tap. We suggest you check whether any of their new releases are available. Perhaps Hola Luz de Sol (Hello Sunshine), which is a Mexican-style lager; Hoppin’ Maibock, Big Rig’s returning LCBO spring seasonal; or Shakedown APA, a one-off Big Riggers loved so much that they kept brewing it.
City Bites Hot Tip #2: Be on the lookout for tickets to the next (June 10) Taproom Sessions — our inside sources tell us that the legendary Jim Bryson is slated to play.
