Travelling home to Ottawa? Watch out for our first big storm

Seems like this past weekend’s freezing rain and dusting of snow were just a warm up — the first real storm of the season is about to hit.

Environment Canada is warning that a storm from Texas is making its way north bringing lots of snow to Eastern Ontario.

“Travel conditions will deteriorate Monday night as visibilities drop to near zero and roads become snow covered,” warns the weather alert. “The snow and blowing snow will continue Tuesday.”

The Ottawa region can expect between 20 and 30 centimetres of snow, with snow finally tapering off on Tuesday night. Road conditions could be treacherous and Environment Canada suggests travel should be avoided.

Monday’s high is expected to be -8.
