Longstanding Canadian retailers are few and far between, especially ones that offer a myriad of designer goods — never mind nearly two centuries of experience! Canada’s upscale department store, Holt Renfew, is celebrating 175 years with a pop-up shop this week. In true stand-out style, the Holts shop travels across the country.
Holts’ mobile tour will hit the nation’s capital for a two-day event on September 11 and 12, setting up shop in the Byward Market at 93 George St.
Highlights? Seven renowned graphic designers have been chosen by the company to design limited-edition sweatshirts (men’s and women’s) that will be sold during the mobile tour’s two-day stop here. Each artist has also produced videos that describe their designs for the project. Check them out here. (Our fav is Jonathan Mak Long’s version, right).

Stylish people around the globe have been photographed rocking the bulky sweater with jeans (boyfriend or skinny) and heels. Jump on the trend — and show your pride in a Canadian establishment.
In addition to the sweaters created for the mobile tour, Holts has also commissioned some of its key designers to create exclusive products for the big 175th birthday milestone. Designers taking part include Louboutin, Paul Smith, Canada Goose, Alice & Olivia, and Coke, among many others.
We’ve done the research for you and have found out the pics include in our album are ALL available at the Ottawa location. This is a great way to grab a piece of Holts history. You will be one of a few rocking the limited-edition magenta on the streets of the capital.
According to the website, the pop-up shop will be open from noon to 8 pm each day. Need up-to-the-minute info? Plug in the #popupholts hashtag on twitter to see what’s happening.
