EVENT PREVIEW: Kids pop-up shop at Victoire

Shop Talk is written by OM senior editor Dayanti Karunaratne and Sarah Fischer, OM account executive and fashion maven.

This dress by Supayana is available in sizes 1 to 3.

With the rise of designer children’s clothing and the prevalence of stroller moms in Westboro, it comes as no surprise that trendy clothing store Victoire is catering to the kiddies. The boutique, which describes itself as “a rock ‘n’ roll tea party” and prides itself on carrying Canadian lines, will bring children’s clothing by Dace and Supayana, as well as funky nursery wall art, to its Wellington West location for the month of June.

Plus, they’re kicking it off with a kid-friendly launch party on June 2, featuring music by Catriona Sturton and Kristy Nease. (Between sets, the musicians will hunker down for some crafty time with the little ones.) And there will be doughnut holes by Suzy Q!

(The event is also a great excuse for moms to do a little shopping of their own, Katie adds. Go for the little ones, shop for yourself.)

According to Victoire’s Katie Frappier, customers have been requesting kids clothing since they set up shop in the ‘hood three years ago. There’s clearly a yummy-mummy aesthetic to the strip, with Flock offering baby stuff and cute decor items, and Red Velvet selling maternity clothes. Then there’s the massive Fab Baby Gear and chic Red Chair Kids. Miniature they may be, but children are definitely making their presence known in this shopping district.

Apparently the Victoire girls have had the young ‘uns on their radar for awhile — ever since Katie had her first child a couple of years ago. They’ve been collecting vintage clothing and other kiddie stuff, sourcing from consignment shops, garage sales, and family estates, and will be selling off the bulk of it at the pop-up shop.

Located in the front third of the store, the shop will be on for the month of June, but supplies are limited. Clothing for children aged 0 to 4 years available; prices range from $15 for leggings to $120, but the majority of items are in the $35-$65 range.

Victoire Kids Pop-Up Shop. June 1 to 30; launch party June 2, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 1282 Wellington St. W., 613-421-0089. www.victoireboutique.com
