Full house —Viens Avec Moi opens space to more businesses in continuing sharing trend

In time for the clothing store’s 5th anniversary this December, Viens Avec Moi welcomes new roommates Goods Shop and Presh Floral into its Wellington West home. Inside the cozy, two-storey, semi-attached house, Viens Avec Moi will continue in its first floor location, while the other two will reside in separate rooms upstairs, along with luxury consignment store Alfred & Co. This sharing of space continues a trend that we’ve also seen at The Common on Elgin St., where they’ve also grouped independent businesses into one multi-use location.

“It was always a vision of ours to have different concepts in different rooms upstairs,” says Renee Morra, co-owner and stylist of Viens Avec Moi.

The clothing and accessories boutique has often hosted pop-up shops and trunk shows, but its new tenants will bring “something a little more permanent” and “unique to the boutique,” she adds.

Part of the reason for renting the space out to other businesses was due to the nature of the space itself. It’s a spacious Victorian home and Morra says it was difficult to “fill up” with merchandise without additional tenants.

And while each business provides merchandise distinct from one another, what’s on offer is also complimentary. In this way, she notes, it creates a one-stop shopping experience for customers.

Like its primary location in the dynamic North Dal neighbourhood, the second Goods Shop in Wellington West will be stocked with carefully curated Canadian goods, including stationery, prints, pantry items, homewares, and gifts.

Presh Floral now has its floral design studio up and running, specializing in wild and romantic arrangements with local and sustainable flowers and foraged elements. They also host seasonal design workshops to share tips on how to create your own beautiful arrangements.

Alfred & Co., which has occupied one of the second floor rooms for a year already, resells up-cycled, coveted pieces from designer brands for a fraction of the price. The luxury consignment shop constantly updates its website and social media accounts for fashion hunters to keep track of what’s in and grab hold of treasurable wardrobe pieces. These retailers altogether create new meaning for one-stop shopping.

To see all the new changes in store, come celebrate Viens Avec Moi’s 5th birthday on December 1 from 5 – 9 p.m. The occasion will also be a housewarming party of sorts, as they introduce everyone to their new roommates. Appetizers and cocktails for the evening will be prepared by Supply and Demand and North & Navy. Customers who purchase over $150 will receive a pair of earrings as a gift with purchase (while supplies last).
