m0851 Celebrates Three Years in Ottawa (with wine and great deals)

This Thursday, Nov. 10 will mark the three-year anniversary of m0851, a Montreal-based company that specializes in Canadian-made leather goods. And what beautiful goods they are — simple, timeless lines and quality tailoring has led to a slow-but-steady following for m0851.

Fans of m0851 will be excited to hear that, in addition to wine and cheese and bites from Chef David Godsoe, the new guy in charge at Restaurant E18hteen, the store will be offering 20 percent off its entire collection.

And those fans are legion. While the brand is subtle — no blingy branding on these bags — when people fall in love with m0851 they commit for life. Fitting, as the bags are known to last upwards of 20 years.

“Nowadays that goes a long way,” says Marisol Vinatea, Ottawa store manager. “We now have customers that are very proud of the Canadian, made-in-Montreal aspect, as well as the fact that they could wear it 20 years ago and can pass it on to their children.”

Vinatea adds that the bags age beautifully, developing a rich patina and a soft texture over time.

“A lot of people care a lot about functionality and design, and less about trends. It’s a slow movement, but we really do represent that thinking.”

In addition to leather bags, m0851 has recently started selling outerwear and scarves. Vinatea is particularly excited about bundling up in the beautiful, functional, and unique coats now on offer at the Ottawa store.

The m0851 three-year anniversary party happens Thurs., Nov. 10, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 531 Sussex Dr.
Wine, cheese, and bites by Restaurant E18teen Chef David Godsoe, and the entire collection will be discounted by 20 percent for the evening.
