SHOP TALK: Exclusive! Jewellery finds

Shop Talk is written by OM senior editor Dayanti Karunaratne and Sarah Fischer, OM account executive and fashion maven.

Find Todd Reed jewellery (only!) at Howard Fine Jewellers and Custom Designers.

We were in chatting with Stephanie Appotive last week, the buyer for Howard Fine Jewellers and Custom Designers, and were captivated by her enthusiasm for their new line, Todd Reed, from Colorado. The line is exclusive to Canada, meaning you can only find Todd Reed in Canada at Howard Jewellers in Ottawa. How cool is that!?

Todd Reed brings a natural approach to his jewellery designs, paying homage to “nature’s stunning, humbling creativity” through work in precious metals, raw diamonds, and gemstones. Todd respects that neither gold nor diamonds require human intervention to be beautiful, so with delicacy and minimalism marries them to one another and lets their raw, earthy beauty shine through.

Indeed, it’s nice to add unique and hard-to-find pieces to a jewellery collection. Herewith, the results from our first local exclusives shopping trip.

Movado Bold watches can be found at Davidson's Jewellers.

If you are looking for the latest craze, get your hands on a Movado Bold, and quick!! Everyone (including Oprah and Teen Vogue) is gushing over these sharp watches. You can only find these watches at Davidson’s Jewellers in Ottawa. The watches feature dials detailed by bold, new textures, metallic and crystal-set dots, and bright colour accents. Davidson’s is carrying both the bracelet and leather strap versions in both black and white, accented by blue, lime, fuchsia and gold. I am diggin’ the white with blue accents.

True Bijoux is also working to bring us new and exciting jewellery designs. Lindsay has brought in an exclusive line called Belle Étoile from San Francisco. The brand offers a variety of styles of jewellery for the rockstar in you, the fashion maven, or even the power executive. Belle Étoile is a rising star in the jewellery world, creating pieces in sterling silver, enamel resin, and Italian rubber. In fact, the Anastacia bangle won the JCK Jeweler’s Choice Award in 2011 (best bracelet design under $10,000).

Got exclusive scoop? Have a favourite find you’re willing to share? Drop us a line in the comments section — we’re hoping to make this a regular part of Shop Talk.
