Shop Talk is written by OM senior editor Dayanti Karunaratne and Sarah Fischer, OM account executive and fashion maven.
This cheerful shop sells the work of over 100 designers, including Annie 50, Laura Fauquier, and Melow. A sister store to Workshop, Flock emphasizes workwear with flair, and includes funky baby clothes and statement accessories. The space was formerly occupied by a bank, so there are some interesting caverns that add quirk to the shopping experience; most of the baby stuff is in a nook at the back.
And if you’re in the mood for nesting, do take a minute to check out their fun decor items. Lots of birds and wall hangings to bring some life to your pad!
But Flock is more than a great place to pick up one-of-a-kind wardrobe elements — it’s also a nexus for all things crafty and handmade. That’s because the shop offers workshops and classes, which can be a great starting point for fledgling designers looking to hone their skills (or just a way to get out of the house as the dark days set in). Starting next week, knitting and block printing classes commence in the friendly basement studio.

The Look: Modern (and comfortable) workwear with a twist
Perfect for: The cubicle worker who likes to surprise with quirky cuts and upbeat prints;
USP: Looking to bring some life to your wardrobe but not sure where to begin? The sales people are very knowledgeable about the visions of their various designers. Chat ’em up, have them start you a room, and let the fun begin!
